We are so excited that Englewood’s very own Lemon Bay High School Marching Mantas have been invited to the Capitol!

U.S Representative Thomas Rooney R-Fl17 had the privilege of nominating only four high school bands from Florida’s 17th Congressional District to march in the annual 2017 Independence Day Parade in Washington D.C.  Rooney stated in his nomination letter, “I believe that your marching band upholds the highest performance quality and would be a commendable representative of the state of Florida.”

On September 19th The Marching Mantas received a follow up acceptance letter selecting them to attend this world class event. The entire band, consisting of 86 dedicated students is gearing up for a once in a lifetime opportunity to march down Constitution Avenue on July 4th, 2017. What an amazing honor for the Marching Mantas to represent the state of Florida!

As you can imagine, this is a big undertaking so the Band Boosters have several fundraisers planned to help offset the cost. It’s important that our community stand behind these students and support them.

In the month of November look for the Quarter Auction as well as an event at The Marvelous Mutt.  In December they will hold their Annual Winter Concert on December 6 and would love to have a full house!

We at StiverFirth International are especially excited for these young musicians as two of the members, a color guard captain and saxophone player, pictured here, are the pride and joy of our Team Coordinator, Dawn Stephens who also serves on the Booster Board.
