Dawn Stephens and her family make a conscious effort to SHOP local and EAT local – we have so many excellent choices in our area!  Every week they pick a name out of a hat to decide where to go, and after trying a restaurant, Dawn, one of our team members, writes a review.  Here is her review of a Manasota Key Restaurant, The Lock N Key.

This week we landed at Lock N Key Restaurant on Manasota Key.   We went on a Friday night at their prime time, but made a reservation to be on the safe side.  Lock N Key is one of the most popular restaurants in the area, and now I definitely know why!

We pulled into the parking lot wondering whether we would find parking, and next thing you know, a young man pointed out the perfect parking spot. He told us he had been saving it all night for us because he knew we were coming. What a great way to be greeted! He had an engaging personality and made us laugh!

We were seated right away and Janice came over to wait on us. We started with a basket of bread, including two rolls and two cranberry rolls.  I’m not a real fan of Cranberry so I was not planning to eat that one until my husband said it was delicious and suggested I try it.  I hesitated – but tried a bite. Needless to say, I ate the whole thing!

Our sal1ads were next and all of their dressings are deliciously homemade.  Our meals came as our salad plates were cleared and we were very impressed with the presentation.  The flower is a nice touch.  The flower is a nice touch. We ordered stuffed grouper and the seafood combo which came with scallops, shrimp, crab cake and grouper. Both were paired with green beans and a baked potato. I have nothing bad to say! Everything had great flavor and tasted wonderful, and this turned out to be a meal for the next day as well!

Then came my favorite part – the desserts! We tried the Key Lime Pie and 3Cheesecake.   All the desserts are also homemade and there is no denying that! They were incredible! The cheesecake had a caramel and fudge drizzle, and it was literally melt in your mouth amazing! By FAR the best cheesecake I have ever tasted – right down to their homemade crust!  I was only a few bites into my cheesecake when I realized my husband had already eaten his entire piece of Key Lime Pie!

I am so excited to go back in the future because their service was excellent, their food was delicious and the desserts were definitely something to write home about.  If you have company coming into town, or haven’t been in a while, or haven’t had the chance to try this Manasota Key restaurant – it’s a must!

Go walk the beach, watch our beautiful sunsets and visit a locally owned restaurant that truly cares about their customers!

As we were leaving, we saw a band setting up for some live entertainment – maybe next time we’ll stay and dance off that dessert!

Thank you Lock N Key, it was quite a treat – see you again soon!
